festividad nacional

On December 12 of each year Mexico celebrates its most important religious event for several centuries now. It is the feast of the patron saint of Mexico and some of Catholics in Latin America, Our Lady of Guadalupe. On the eve of the north country stops to fill the churches around the country and pay the reverence that it is tradition. There is no recognizable image of Mexican religiosity that of the Virgin of Guadalupe: prints, films and even tacky soap operas are made on their behalf, and untainted by commercialism. The image of the Virgin of Guadalupe is the most representative symbol of all Mexico, as much or more than their national emblem

festividad local

According to the tradition of Zulia, Maracaibo La Chinita reached the waves of the lake. The story goes that one day in 1749, just a simple woman washing clothes on the shores of Lake Maracaibo, when suddenly he saw floating a thin wooden board, which picked up thinking it might be useful to hide the jar of water that was in the corridor of his house. The next morning, when I was brewing coffee, she heard a pounding like someone was calling. He went to see what was happening and was overwhelmed with amazement at the glowing planchette and it appeared the image of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá. For this reason, the woman began to cry miracle! Miracle!, so hence the name of the current Miracle on Lake Avenue, where she was the washerwoman's house. After what happened, many people came to witness the prodigy, becoming the home for this humble woman in a place of veneration of the Virgin by many believers.

The month of November is of special significance to the people of Zulia, because for the same are held celebrations in honor of the Chinita (equivalent of guajirita Zulia) or Virgen de la Chiquinquirá. It is for this reason that these days, the bagpipe sounds with particular frenzy and joy throughout the Zulia. Of the many celebrations in honor of the Virgin, perhaps the most impressive is the so-called Sunrise Piper, in which the people of Maracaibo gather at dawn on day 18 in the plaza of the Basilica, to sing to the Mañanitas and Chinita Happy Birthday. the early mornings and after we go on family

You know I still have a chance
Because there is a spark within you

You should only turn on the light and let it shine
That is yours, like the night of July 4

Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show them as vouchers
Do you walk by saying "Oh, oh, oh"
While going across the sky
